John Wildermuth of the San Francisco Chronicle writes how "the political game in California has changed," and suggests that labor leaders and Democrats need to tune in to a new political climate in the state.
Though this was a fight between two Democrats who share many of the same views, the real struggle seemed to be between business and labor. Union-backed Susan Bonilla suffered low turnout at the polls, as Orinda Mayor Steve Glazer, backed by the California Chamber of Commerce, scored a decisive victory.
